FIFTH REVEL The fifth revel of the Philistines’ Club was held on Saturday evening: in the Grafton Hall. Members attended in force, and there were a number of visitors present, all of whom were cordially welcomed by the chairman of the evening:, Mr. Harold T. King. A particularly attractive and varied programme was presented, and the audience was most enthusiastic in its applause. Enjoyable vocal items were rendered by Miss Prowse. Mrs. Gatenby and Mr. Sutherland, and Mr. Turner Peliuet gave two amusing monologues at the piano. A novel and effective note was introduced by the “Hennessey Three Stars,” and Mr. Houghton’s humorous recital, performed on grand 6pera lines kept his listeners rippling with amusement. Mr. Fred McCallum contributed two excellent humorous items, and Mrs. Scantlebury and Mrs. Verran appeared in a sketch entitled “The Other Woman.” Miss L. Quinn acted most capably and pleasingly as accompanist to the performers. After supper the floor was cleared, and dancing was the order of the hour. Among the many present we noticed: Mrs. Harold King, who wore a gown of black silk velvet, with touches of lacquer red. Mrs. T. T. Garland, in a coral coloured .gown of silk georgette. Mrs. J. W. Wilson, white satin frock and rose velvet wrap. Mrs. T. R. Proctor, black marocain gown, braided in nattier blue. Mrs. F. C. Eavestaff, handsome gown of black crepe de chine, with steel beaclMrs. H. E. Gillespie, black satin gown, appliqued with almond green. Mrs. J. W. Saunders, black velvet frock, scarf of pervence blue. Mrs. H. T. Garratt, gown of black crepe mongole. Mrs. H. C. Clarke, figured marocain in petunia shading. Mrs. Mark Davis, handsome metal tissue gown. Mrs. Clinch, black crepe faille frock, with floral and feather trimming. Mrs. J. F. Montague, black radium lace over jade, and beaten silver scarf. Mrs. A. L. Mitchell, cherry georgette frock, and heavily fringed cream shawl. Mrs. W. Langguth. moonlight blue panne velvet gown, belted with diamante. Mrs. C. Montague, black silk lace frock and figured jade shawl. Mrs. Maclean, embossed georgette gown.
