NEW LIVERPOOL DOCK
OPENED BY THE KING CHEERING SPECTATORS By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Wednesday. The King and Queen to-day visited Liverpool, where his Majesty opened the Gladstone Dock system, which has cost £7,500,000. The entrance lock is a triumph of engineering, making the docks accessible to the largest ships afloat at any state of the tide. The sheds on the quayside provide 60J acres of floor-space. The King was attired as an Admiral of the fleet. He stood at the salute on the bridge of the steamer Galatea as that vessel cut the silk ribbon into the entrance of the dock in the presence of tens of thousands of cheering spectators.
