AVOIDING WASTE IN INDUSTRIES

CONFERENCE IN AUSTRALIA ASSOCIATION PROPOSED By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright SYDNEY, Wednesday. The conference or Federal and State officials and educational authorities and business men, which was convened by the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. Bruce, discussed the questions of simplified practice and the elimination of waste in industry. A provisional committee was appointed to examine the possibility of establishing an association on the lines of the Engineering Standards Association. The action of the Commonwealth Government originated in a conference which was held in February last, under the auspices of the Engineering Standards Association, which had adopted resolutions calling attention to the need for the immediate adoption of economies in production and business methods and suggesting that an organisation to deal with the matter should be established in Australia. The proposed association would probably receive a grant from the Federal Government.—A. and N.Z.
