CLOTHING FOR THE POOR Warm clothing for children is very necessary at the present time, and a parcel of 40 garments, sent by the Te Awamutu Girl Guides, has been gratefully acknowledged by the Rev. Jasper Calder, city missioner. The articles consisted of three navy flannel dresses, one navy flannel gymnasium dress, one red flannel romper, three flannelette nightdresses, six flannel and knitted petticoats, five wincey dresses, eight pairs of warm (mostly flannel) bloomers, two woollen singlets, two babies’ crotcheted bonnets, three woollen hats, one baby’s knitted dress, two pairs of socks, one pair of woollen slippers, two woollen jumpers, and one black velvet In thanking the guides for the collection, Mr. Calder said: “It was simply splendid when a group of young people got together to work for their less fortunate little brothers and sisters.”
