A gale which reached a velocity of 70 miles an hour over a considerable area, accompanied by heavy rain, caused considerable damage to property. A number of buildings were unroofed, and hoardings and fences blown down, and trees uprooted. The Swan River has risen about three feet. Ferry steamer services and the country air services are suspended,. Other rivers also are reported to be in flood. The storm is described as one of thew orst in the history of Fremantle, where steamers had to iron out extra heavy mooring lines.
