At Alexandra Park

THE VOGUE OF THE TAILLEUR The vogue of the tailleur is indeed a well-established fact. Surely never before in all the ages of dress history have women been so faithful to the trim little tailored suit as they are proving themselves of late! The bright weather that heralded in the opening day of the Auckland Trotting Club’s Winter meeting held at Alexandra Park to-day brought in its train a delightful multitude of versions of the wintry mode . . . but always to the fore was the suit of tweeds or repp or kasha, worn with the most becoming of small felt hats, furs and the shoes of various reptiles’ skins. The wine shades that have been with us for more than a month or two were not quite so much in evidence, and left more opportunities foi one to admire the fawns, sands, beechwoods and greens that are making so bold a bid for popularity. Wraps, that were instantly produced when the rain clouds gathered over the erstwhile blue sky were as bright as ever . . . their very joyous tones being sufficient to dispel the gloominess that at times tried to make itself felt. Among those present we noticed the following: Mrs. M. M. McCallum, russet-toned ensemble suit and hat to match. Mrs. EL E. Gillespie, musquash coat, hat of vari-coloured felt. Mrs. East, violet ensemble suit, mole fur coat, fawn felt hat. Mrs. Kernot, heavy wrap of mole fur, fawn felt hat. Mrs. Kernot, heavy wrap of mole fur, fawn felt hat.
