HUNTLY TOWN BOARD
The chairman (Mr. W. C. E. George) presided over a full meeting of the Huntly Town Board on Tuesday. Details of arrangements in connection with the opening of the Town Hall on Tuesday next were finalised and, given fine weather, the function should be a signal success. Mr. George and his fellow-councillors are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a memorable gathering, and, as the invitation to be present is a public one, gene>'us patronage is fully expected. The chairmen of various local bodies have signified their intention of being present.
Various accounts were passed for payment, the highest being £320 12s 6d for upholstering SSO seats for the new picture theatre.
The question of arranging adequate fire extinguishing apparatus was dealt with, also a supply of good water for the supper-rooms. Mr. C. Reed advised the board of a troublesome water area, and the chairman and town clerk are to inspect promptly and take steps to abate the nuisance.
Before concluding* Mr. George advised members that in future meetings would be held every other week.
