FRANKLIN COUNTY RATES

It has been decided by the Franklin County Council to strike the followingrates for the current year: Awhitu Riding, 1 l-8d in the £ ; Drury Riding, 12d; Hunua Riding, ljd; Karaka Riding, 1 l-8d; Mauku Riding, 1 l-8d; Mercer Riding, lid; Pukekohe East Riding, 1 l-8d; Pukekohe West Riding, 11-8 d; Waipipi Riding, lid; Waiuku Riding, Id. Combpared with last year’s rates, it was pointed out that these figures represented an increase of one-eighth of a penny in the £ in Pukekohe East and Mercer Ridings, and a reduction to lid in the Hunua Riding. Cr. T. J. Lockwood explained that the supplementary rate in Hunua Riding last year was to put the account on a sound basis. If necessary it could be reimposed.
