AUCKLAND TROTTING

TRAINING OPERATIONS WORK AT ALEXANDRA PARK AT MANGERE Both tracks were open for work at Mangere yesterday. when a large number of trainers took full advantage of the going, which, considering the recent wet weather, was very fair. Bingen King Quits Bingen King ,(S. Groat) and Rockaway (P. Rogers) were strapped up and dispatched over a 12-furlong journey on the dirt track. The black horse held a slight advantage for a mile, where Rockaway asserted his superiority. When asked to make a further exertion, Bingen King “shut up” like a book and Rogers’s charge, who is very well, finished on his own. Solid Work Tiger Salve and Longford were associated in a solid brush over eight furlongs, both doing their work well. The pa cer was eased at this stage, but Richards drove Tiger Salve along for another seven furlongs and the exAustralian gave a good display. Both horses handled the grass nicely. An Improved Mare Roez, looking a greatly improved mare, pleased the onlookers by the bold manner in which she accomplished her tasks. She was given several bursts over half a mile, and on each occasion gathered up her speed smartly. R6ez, however, objects to any application of the cane. Roamer Goes Well Gold Sovereign had the pacer Roamer as a companion over a couple of circuits on the grass, and both gave a sound exhibition. Gold Sovereign makes an awful noise when the pressure is on, but Roamer paced truly and is in fine condition. In Great Buckle Nelson Fame, looking the picture of good health, was worked on the clay for several rounds and then transferred to the turf, where, strapless, he gave a very pleasing display. Nelson Fame is in rare buckle and many of hi* Otahuhu admirers believe that August’s charge will run a great two miles. New Lease of Life Golden Gate, with A. Broughton in the sulky, showed surprisingly good form in traversing three circuits on the dirt track. He hit out in splendid style and never made a mistake, and appears to have taken a new lease of life. CASTLES INCIDENT HORSE UNREGISTERED SPORTS COMPLAIN By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. There is much complaint in the sporting world over Saturday’s Randwick incident. It now appears that Castles, besides being wrongly described, was not registered, registration having lapsed though he recently started in several races on country and suburban courses.—A. and N.Z.
