JASPER’S WEEK

CITY MISSION CAMPAIGN TAKINGS ESTIMATED AT £I,OOO The net takings for the City Mission’s winter fair and concerts are estimated at over £I,OOO. This is a very successful effort on the part of the Rev. Jasper Calder and members of the mission and rather more elaborate than in previous years when the main effort was put into “Jasper’s Concert.” The proceeds of the week's campaign are to be devoted to the City Mission and to relief of necessitous cases of poverty due to unemployment. The usual feature, “Jasper’s Concert,” was the first shot fired in the campaign. It was a huge success. During the week the “All Auckland Winter Fair” in the Town Hall was a steady draw. The goods offered sold freely. On Saturday night another “Jasper’s Concert” was given in the Town Hall where a large audience attended and enjoyed every moment of the programme. The City Mission has a generous public which on* this occasion has forwarded some deserving causes in a solid style.
