At the start of the Corwall Handicap at Elierslie on Friday Kara was turned sideways on to the barrier, and as a result lost some ground. Even so he quickly settled down and was in about fifth place along the back, and fourth into the straight the last time. T l ?' ss * s where he was at the finish, for he could not improve on it in the run home. Doubtless the early rush to make up his ground left him without a final dash, but it was illuminating to see Te Kara run such a fine race under difficulties.
