AVONDALE BOROUGH
There was a full attendance of members at the meeting of the Avondale Borough Council last night, the mayor Air. H. Tiarks, presiding. The Auckland and Suburban Drain-
age Board advised the borough’s assessment for the current year at £567 2s lOd. This is £2O 14s lid in excess of last year’s sum.
The state of the footpath in High Street was the subject of a letter from Air. J. H. Pinnington. The engineer was instructed to report upon the position, and also upon the request of Air. John Proctor for an approach to his property on New Windsor Road. It was resolved where road cuttings made protection of private property essential the borough would be prepared to do the work on a 50-50 basis. The Power Board is to be asked to erect a temporary light on a dangerous footpath on Roberton Road. The engineer reported that during the fortnight ended Alay 31 fourteen building permits were issued of a total estimated cost of £3,495. Twenty-one dwellings were in course of erection, together with nine additions to existing buildings.
The sanitary inspector reported issuing six drainage permits for work to cost £72 13s, and five plumbing permits for work to cost £127 ss.
