OTAHUHU ORPHANS

The second night of the session was held in the Public Hall on Tuesday evening, Past-President Bro. J. E. Gillies presided over a very large gathering. The official guests of the evening were members of the Returned Soldiers’ Association and the members of the Northern Boxing Association. Replying to the chairman’s welcome to “Our Visitors,” Padre Rev. C. B. W. Seton. president of the Otahuhu Returned Soldiers’ Club, said it was gratifying to k n ow that at l ast ne < are tion still remembered the men who “did

their bit.” He congratulated the club on the eveninVs programme, and considered that a night such as he was spending did more to promote goodfellowship and brotherly love than any other organisation he knew of. Air. W. Craig, president of the Northern Boxing Association, also expressed the thanks of his executive and himself for the splendid evening’s entertainment. The programme submitted was of a very high order. The orchestra, under the baton of Air. Edwin Parker, received great applause for the rendering of various numbers. Others contributing to the programme were Master N. G. Walker, violin solo; Messrs. Rex Yates and Dan Flood humorous items and orchestral sketches; while songs were given by Alessrs. A. Gear, W. Lewis, Bennett, Pitkin, and Crutcher Norgrove, and A. Wright, Alaori songs by Air. J. Kennedy and Alessrs. Phil (a quartette). During the evening 37 new members were admitted.
