THE CASH RIDERS
WILSON’S GOOD WIN The most popular win of the season, "as undoubtedly Los. Wilson’s on Saturday in the M.C.C. 33-mile road race. Starting oft the six-minute mark he scored a victory by a length from J. «tevvnrt (TJmin). Davies (lOmin) was third close up. Wilson also won the prize for fastest time, doing the distance in S6min. The 37 starters had to pass the finishing post six times. This gave the large crowd of spectators a splendid view of the different bundles of riders as they passed. The back men had a hopeless task after the second round. The limit men made the irate hot over the first 10 miles, but once the middle markers got together, they never left the issue in doubt. Those responsible for making the pace were Grant, Roe, Gainsborough. Wilson, and Stewart. The scratch rider, Byrnes, rode a wonderful unpaeed race. On his own all the way, but was unable to bridge the gap between himself and the 2min men. Galbraith and H. Dwiglit. They could make no impression on the middle markers, who. taking no chances, paced each other splendidly, and won all the money. The limit riders, with the exception of Davies, were “all in” over the lost lap. It was a great race and a great finish. A GREAT SPRINT The finishing sprint of J. Stewart was an eye-opener. He had the bad luck to have his chain come off during the race, but for that, he would have been very troublesome at the finish. He is due for a win any time now, Davies, the third rider to finish, is another very much improved rider. He was the only limit rider to get a place, and while giving him every credit for It, Volos” would feel like giving him a. little more credit, if he only would do a little more pace-making. The M.C.C. junior 55 mile handicap event attracted a field of 17 starters. The race was run just before the big event, and was won by Steen (30sec) from Pinker dm). Aldred <3osec) was third. Fastest time (14m 17sec) was also secured hv Steen. These boys under IB are putting up wonderful times over the 5J miles. They are averaging nearly 20 m.p.h. for the whole journev. Steen, the winner, rode a heady race, and looks like being placed on the mark of honour very shortly.
