TAMAKI AFFAIRS

A deputation which waited on the Tamaki Road Board last evening requested that rates should be levied on unimproved value instead of on the capital value. It was suggested that a poll on the question be taken on the same date as the poll on the Greater Auckland proposal. The board decided not to take action until a petition had been received. Another deputation, which represented the St. Heliers Bowling Club, asked for financial assistance inoider to allow the club to add another storey to its building and to carry out other improvements. The board decided to advance the sum of £320, providing the club paid an additional ground fee of £25. The new time-table submitted by Mr. L. J. Keys for the St. Heliers-Kohimarama-Auckland bus service was approved.
