Last week Mr. J. W. Carr, chairman of the Tamaki Road Board, presided over a meeting of ratepayers who were opposed to the Greater Auckland movement. For this he was severely criticised by some folk.

At a meeting of the board last evening Mr. Carr said that in presiding at the meeting his sole object was to give consideration to both sides of the question. As he had not been asked to give an opinion and had merely acted as chairman, he considered that he had nothing to answer for.
