TRUCKS DERAILED
On two occasions during the present week, the staff at the Papatoetoe railway station has had to contend with derailed trucks. The first dccasion was on Tuesday afternoon at 3.30 when one of the spoil trucks used for the removal of the debris from the deviation was derailed on the northern end of the yard during shunting operations It was replaced after about two hours’ work. The second mishap, which occurred on Wednesday night at 7.30, was of a more serious nature. Three of the large “V” vans, used for the conveyance of meat from Westfield and Southdown were derailed at the southern end of the yard. A gang of men was soon on the job, but it was 1.30 a.m. before the train was able to take its departure. Xeitlier of the mishaps interfered with the running of the through truing
