WITHHELD FROM PRESS
WAITEMATA SEWERAGE POINT
Should the report on sewage outfalls in the Waitemata be made public before the. local bodies affected had had time to discuss it? The Auckland Harbour Board decided yesterday that it should not be, though Mr. T. Blood-
worth headed a movement to give the report to the press. The engineer, Mr. D. Holderness, and the harbourmaster, Mr. H. H. Sergeant, had prepared the report and the recommendation of the board in committee was that particulars affecting the local bodies should be forwarded to them. The whole question should be further considered by the board in six months’ time. Mr. T. Bloodworth: I disagree. We should make it public now. Mr. F. A. Hellaby seconded the amendment. The chairman, Mr. H. R. Mackenzie, and Mr. M. H. Wynyard said that the local bodies should have an opportunity to consider the reports first. Otherwise trouble might be caused. Mr. E. W. lnder: We should also suggest to the local bodies that they discuss the matter in committee. The amendment to make the report public was lost, and the recommendations adopted.
