TOWN PLANNING
WHANGAREI PROPOSALS (From Our Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, To-day. A report of the conference on the regional town-planning scheme was submitted to the Whangarei County Council on Friday, together with the intimation that the Whangarei Borough Council had adopted the recommendations made. Cr. L. A. Johnson, as one of the county delegates to the conference, briefly described the effect of regional planning, pointing out that, in its initial stages, it meant preparation of a town regional map which included fixing outlet roads in connection with which the adjoining local bodies could be cited. The effect would be imposition of restrictions upon property owners near the borough in regard to future subdivisions. The expense to the county council would be little, at least in the near future. Cr. F. McDonald, another delegate, referred to the recommendations that the Mount Denby golf links should be declared a reserve, but personally he was not in favour of that. With reference to the proposal that Mr. R. S. Finch be asked to survey a proposed Kiripaka. road as an alternative to the Tikipunga Hill, Cr. McDonald agreed, as there had been an agitation in Kiripaka riding to have such a road provided; and he also favoured making a deviation of the old road at the foot of Tikipunga Hill. On the motion of Cr. J. A. S. Mackay the recommendations of the conference were adopted.
