ASSISTING ASSISTANTS

UNIVERSITY COUNCIL MEETS With a view to increasing the salaries of full-time assistants to University professors, the Auckland University College Council decided at its meeting yesterday to support Victoria University College in asking for the restoration of the “cut” which was taken from the University grants in the course of the retrenchments in 1922. A letter received from the Registrar of Victoria College at the meeting of the college council yesterday asked the co-operation of each college for this purpose. The council decided to print and publish an address, “Grassland Research: Some Recent Developments,” which Professor R. G. Stapledon, of the University of Wales, delivered to the Agricultural Science Club.
