MILFORD NEEDS
POST OFFICE WANTED PROGRESSIVE ASSN. MEETS “The settlement of the vital question of transport leaves the association free to give attention to the general needs of the district, such as beautification and the provision of recreation for young and old,” stated the rqport presented to the annual meeting of the Milford Progressive Association last night. Mr. J. W. Williamson, Mayor of Takapuna, presided. The committee strongly urged the.necessity for requesting the Postal Department to provide" a post office for Milford, and also to instal a slot telephone. The president, Mr. A. Warbrick, challenged rumours that there was difficulty in finding solid holding ground for the piles of the Inga Road Bridge across the Wairau. These reports were absolutely false.
A letter was received from Mr. A. M. Seaman urging the desirability, in view of the amount of unemployment in the district, of raising by subscriptions a fund of about £2OO, which together with the subsidy that would accrue upon it, could be utilised in laying out the grounds of the new school at Milford.
