ONEHUNGA GRIEVANCE
POLLUTING THE ATMOSPHERE ALLEGED NUISANCE For some time past emphatic complaints have been made by private residents in their objection to the burning of sulphur during the process of manufacturing at the Farmers’ Fertiliser Company’s factory in Onehunga. The subject was brought before the borough council last evening, when members who had opposed the establishment of the factory contended that such an abominable nuisance had never previously existed, until a few months ago; thus giving full proof that it could be avoided. While identifying the fact that the firm employed a large number of local workmen, the council decided that the manufacturers must not be permitted to create what had apparently become a decided public nuisance. Hence they resolved upon immediate action.
