WAIUKU CLUB

OFFICIAL OPENING The official opening of the Waiy.ku golf season took place on Saturday in the presence of a largo gathering of members knd visitors from surrounding clubs. The president of the club, Mr. A. White, in a short speech welcomed the visiting players and expressed the local club’s pleasure in having them in attendance. Mr. White said that the club did not have many junior players, which he considered a great pity. Air. Pavitt. of the Papakura Club, and Mr. G. Payne, of the Pukekohe Club, briefly thanked the president and members of the Waiuku Golf Club for their hospitality. The ladies, as usual, had a very dainty afternoon tea set in the clubhouse.

Mixed foursomes were the order of the day, and resulted in H. B. Armitage and Miss Glynes of the Waiuku Club securing a very popular win with a nett score of 40. The best of the cards handed in are as follow: Armitage and Miss Glynes, 52—12, 40; Christianson and Mrs. Christianson, 49 6, 43: P. Smith and Miss Muir, 59—14, 45; Aldred and Miss Aldred. 61—16. 45: Brosnahan and Miss Chilberg. 58—10. 48.
