GREY LYNN PARK

EXTENSIONS TO AREA OPENED ON SATURDAY The extension to the playing fields in the Grey Lynn Park were opened on Saturday afternoon by Mr. F. W. H. Brinsden, a member of the city council. Through the intervention of the Grey Lynn Borough Council 18 years back an area of the Surrey Hills Estate was secured for a public park. When Grey Lynn joined the city, a deputation asked the City Council that an area of the park be laid out as a sports ground. As a result of monies raised and donated, four additional acres have now been converted into playing fields. Mr. Brinsden, in declaring the extension open for public use, dwelt on the activities of the city council in providing playing areas for the people of Auckland.

Messrs. J. Donald and J. B. Paterson, members of the city council, also spoke. Mr. Brinsden then kicked off for the League teams which played the first game on the new ground.
