PENAL REFORM
THE HOWARD LEAGUE AUCKLAND BRANCH FORMED The question of the formation of an Auckland branch of the Howard Penal F .form League was sufficient to attract a large attendance of those interested to a meeting held in the Y.M.C.A. last evening, Mr. C. H. Furness presiding. It was a unanimous decision to form a club and the following officers were elected: Patron, Archbishop Averill; president, Mr. A. J. Stratford; vice-presi-dents, Canon C- H. Grant Cowen, Father Bradley, Rev. Dr. Hanston; committee, Miss Jackson, Miss Jean Begg, Messrs, W. J. Campbell, J. Stewart, J. J. Sullivan, H. G. R. Mason, M.P., and Sister Hannah; secretary.
