RUGBY CONTROL

THE AUCKLAND UNION PLAYERS REINSTATED At last night’s meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Rugby Union, the chairman (Mr. H. Frost) reported on the prospects of the seventh grade competition with the primary schools. It was decided to hold a further meeting on Monday evening, clubs to be asked to send representatives. Advice was received from the New Zealand Rugby Union that on the recommendation of the Auckland Union the following players had been reinstated: —W. Hapi, G. W. Robinson, P. Mansell, A. Mansell, N. Loveridge, N. Watkins. A request from the Waikato Union for a representative match on June 3, at Hamilton, was referred to the Match Committee. The Manurewa Club wrote stating it had received a clearance for one year from the South Auckland Rugby Union. It was decided to affiliate the Manurewa Club. Recommendations to the New Zealand Rugby Union for reinstatement were passed as follows: —J. Mitchell, E. Hancock, L. C. Palmer, F. G. Rowe, B. Paul, P. Huia, W. Waata, L. Paul, W. F. Demsey. It was decided to support the application of H. Oakley, providing he could show he had resigned complete membership of the League code. The application of F. R. Malloy was not recommended. Mr. T. Courtney gave notice of motion that all applicants for reinstatement should appear before the union. An application was received from the Training College Club for postponement of its matches on May 21 and 28. It was decided to leave the match on May 21 between Training College and University to the two clubs concerned, providing the arrangement does not interfere with other union matches. It was decided to grant £2 to the Kohlmarama Club toward ground expenses. Permission was granted to B. Palmer and T. A. Short to play for Ponsonby, subject to leave being obtained from the South Auckland Sub-Union. The request of the South Auckland Union for homo and home matches was referred to the Match Committee.
