MOTOR’S WILD PLUNGE
FALLS HUNDRED FEET NO SERIOUS INJURIES (From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIRAKEI, To-day. A motor-car making the trip from Rotorua to Wairakei on Sunday left the road near Geyser Valley and fell a distance of 100 ft. The car finished its career at the bottom of the hill with its wheels in the air, wind-screen broken, steering wheel smashed, and frame bent, but most of the occupants escaped injury. The party consisted of Mr. C. V. Mills, of Wellington, Mrs. Mills and a son. aged five years; Miss K. Simpson, of Toharahi, Oamaru; Miss M. Taylor, Invercargill; Miss Walsh Melbourne; and Mr. Ward, Wellington. Mr. Ward was the most seriously injured of the party. The driver was cut by broken glass. Miss Walsh, Mr. and Mrs. Mills and the little boy were severely bruised and shaken. and Miss Taylor escaped comparatively lightly. Mr. Ward was conveyed to the Wairakei Hotel and medical aid was obtained. He has -since been removed to Rotorua for observation.
