ZANE GREY’S PLANS

RETURNING NEXT YEAR FISHING IN THE SOUTH (From Our Resident Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. Mr. Zane Grey and his party, who have been at Kowhai Flats, on the Tongariro River, for about two months’ fishing, contemplate striking camp on May 20 preparatory to returning to America. Mr. Grey intends to return next year to sample the fishing grounds of the South Island. He also has in view a fishing trip to the South Sea Islands. It is understood that, partly through the instrumentality of Mr. Zane Grey, certain areas embracing rivers hitherto fished with fly and spoon will be declared essentially fly streams. This is a highly controversial question among fishermen, especially, those of modest means, who go to catch fish by whatever means necessary, and frequently have recourse to the spoon. The Governor-General and his brother, Admiral Fergusson, are encamped at Tongariro, and are fishing successfully.
