DUST INJURIOUS TO PLUGS:

The dust of the road is always accumulating on all parts of the automobile and is in many ways injurious. This accumulation on the outside of spark plugs is quite often the cause of missing of the engine, especially in damp or foggy weather, as the current follows through the damp dust rather than across the firing gap inside the cylinder. This is more often true regarding the cylinder nearest the radiator where the most dust accumulates. A periodic wiping off of the outside of the plugs will eliminate this annoyance.
