Winston Churchill, Chancellor of the Exchequer, said he had not considered a duty of 1C per cent, on women’s hats. Colonel Applin: There are at least 50,000,000 hats sold yearly, and a tax of 10 per cent, would give you £1.250,000. Mr. Churchill: I’ve enough blood on my hands. (Loud Laughter.) Sun.
