PRESENTATIONS AT WHANGAREI (From Our Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, To-day. On Friday evening a public farewell was tendered Mr. G. M. Newton, postmaster at Mangawai, who is on transfer to Te Awamutu. He was presented with a handsome suitcase from the local 'residents in recognition of his services with the Mangawai Athletic Club. The tennis club also presented him with a gold fountain pen as a memento of his three years’ secretaryship of the club. Members of the Public Works Department staff in Whangarei met to bid farewell to Mr. R. C. Wilson, who. after 17 years’ continuous service, is severing his connection with the department to engage in road contract work. Mr. W. Stewart, chief d -aughtsman, on behalf of the staff, made a presentation of a marble clock and a set of stainless cutlery, at the same time wishing Mr. Wilson every success in his new sphere of operations. Last night a surprise party, comprising some 40 members of both sex. paid Air. and Mrs. Wilson a visit at their residence, “Ngararatunua,” where a most pleasant evening was spent.
