“SHIFTING SOME METAL”

TIN THEFT AT PARNELL THIEF’S INTERRUPTED JOURNEY When Constable Collins, who was patrolling his beat in St. George’s Bay Road in the early hours of the morning of March 22, suddenly bumped up against William Capel carrying a block of tin on his shoulder, Capel received something in the nature of a shock. The fact that he was just coming away from Alexander Harvey and Son’s warehouse aroused the suspicions of the constable, but Capel had a ready excuse. He said he was “just shifting some metal.” It did not convince the man in blue, however, and Capel was taken to the lock-up. In the Police Court this morning, Capel, who is 47. pleaded guilty to the charge of breaking and entering the warehouse and stealing six blocks of tin valued at £6O, and wags committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
