ON THE WAITEMATA
TO-MORROW’S YACHTING MANUKAU AS WELL After the disappointing weather conditions of last week-end yachtsmen are looking forward to to-morrow’s events with great keenness. A big programriie of races has been arranged by the various clubs, both on the Waitemata and Manukau Harbours. A cruising race for bigger class yachts has been arranged by the Devonport Yacht Club. St. Helier’s Bay will be the scene of the Tamaki Yacht Club’s races for smaller classes, in which some boats from Devonport will take part. The starting line at Devonport will be from the bridge of H.M.S. Philomel and a mark boat moored south direct to Rocky Bay, finishing between the wharf and a mark boat moored south. An alternative course, should weather conditions be unfavourable, has been provided to Matiatia. A red flag flying from the fore topmast of the Philomel will indicate if this course is to be sailed. The finishing line will be between the southern point of Matiatia Bay and a mark boat moored north. Keel yachts and centre-board yachts are being provided for in this programme. All fairway marks will be observed. The usual five-flag start will be flown from the yard arm of H.M.S. Philomel. Handicaps for keel yachts will be declared to-morrow. The races, and times of starting are: KEEL YACHT, 2.30 p.m.—Prize, Ngatoa, . Rawene, Victory, Kotiri, Rangi, Windward, Lady Wilma, and Mahoe. CENTREBOARD YACHTS, 2.40 p.m. (Matiatia handicaps in brackets). —Awatere, scr. (ser.), Venus 9m. (Bm.), Rakoa 10m. (9m.), Valeria 10m. (9m.), Kokiri 10m. (10m.), Forest Gold 12m. (14m.), Waima 25m. (23m.).
There will also be a race for naval cutters from H.M. ships Philomel and Diomede.
