SPEED THRILLS
MOTOR-CYCLE RACING TO-MORROW’S SPORTS The final motor-cycling sports meeting of the season takes place at the Takapuna Racecourse at Devonport to-morrow afternoon. IVlotor cycling has caught on in Auckland of recent years. The thrill of witnessing riders going round the course at something approaching 80 miles an hour has an excitement all its own, and one that makes a striking appeal to spectators. Despite the speed that is attained the Takapuna Course is regarded as a safe one for motor cyclists. At last month’s meeting no less than three world’s grass track records were smashed, and new ones established. Coleman was unfortunate in his attempt for heavyweight machines, owing to a tyre bursting. However, both Bray and Lemon were successful, and like good sports, they intend to do better on Saturday.
