AMUSEMENTS.

FOLEY’S PICTURES. GABY DESLYS. Not withstanding the boisterous weather conditions 'last night there was. a good house at His Majesty’s Theatre to witness Gaby Dcslys iu her first him. The story of Gaby Desly’s triumph, despite her first, as understudy to the jealous star, when she essays the leading role in the big Paris revue, and by her charm and beauty, as well as by her talent, becomes the rage of the city, rising rapidly from poverty and obscurity to wealth and fame, is splendidly depicted in the Famous Flayers’ film “Her Triumph ” which is being shown at His Majesty’s Theatre for the last time to-night. There is a powerful dramatic story woven around the incidents, depicting the efforts of her rival to prevent Gaby Dcslys from achieving her object. It is interesting to know that the events shown on the screen are practically true to the facts of Mdlle. Deslys’s early life on the stage. A feature of the production is the dancing of Gaby Dcslys and her partner, Harry Pilcer, the “Dance Dcslys” and the “Dances des Apaches” being fine examples of the art that lias made the dansense so popular. This picture and .the particularly good supporting programme will be shown again to-night for the last time.

THE DANDIES. “The Dandies” will appear in the .Town Hall next Saturday evenin'!;, and pursue their pleasant avocation 'of making merry moments for their !auditors. The artists to, appear include Hiss Lily Fitzgerald, operatic soprano; Miss Ida Newton, soubrette; (Mr llobort Agnew, tenor; Mr .Marshall Lawrence, baritone; Mr Ford Waltham, basso, and late of the “Scarlet Troubdours” of pleasant remembrance; Mr John Campbell, light comedian, who originally toured the Dominion as a member of Mr Graham Moffat’se Company in “Bnnty Pulls the Strings”; Mr Joseph Brennan, desribed as one of the greatest character comedians at present before the nnblic; and Mr Philip Hardman, pianist. The programmes of “The Dandies” are admirably varied, the comedy section being varied by the introduction of several excellent musical numbers, not the least of which are the contributions by the party's male quartette. Pleasing stage novelties serve to enhance the attractiveness of the entertainment. The plan is now open at Grubb’s.
