Among the non-commissioned officers of the Seventeenth Infantry who have boon appointed second-lieuten-ants on probation, and will be held back to bc> drafted to subsequent reinforcements. nre Sergeants Robert Spence and S. Macalister (Stratford). Mr Charles Bayly, of Toko has received iv commission in the Devonshire Yeomanry. Mr Bayly, who wont to England last year to offer bis services to the Imperial authorities, lias been studying for spine time at the Inns of Court Military, Training School. Tile following names appeared in yesterday morning’s casualty list:—Slightly wounded, but remaining with unit, Rifleman J. P. Glentworth (next-of-kin. H. Cleatworth, Uronui); seriously ill in Wal-ton-on-Tiiames Hospital, Rifleman Roland P. Best (next-of-kin, A. J. Richards, New Plymouth); removed from seriously ill list and progressing favourably, Gunner Walter H. Franks (next-of-kin, W. H. Franks, Riverlea, Taranaki).
