TOWED FROM PAPEETE.

GOOD WORK BY THE MAPOURIKA. Per Press association. Auckland, May 29.

The Flora’s long tow of 2228 miles proved uneventful. Her engineers had effected temporary repairs when the Mapourika arrived, but in order not to strain the repairs too much it was decided that the Mapourika should tow her, while the Flora used her own steam. The vessels left Papeete on May 13th, and four days out encountered a moderate gale and heavy seas. The best day’s run was 185 miles. A strong sea was running until nearing the New Zealand coast, but the towrope did not part. Strong winds were experienced on Saturday, and the vessels were hove-to under canvas till yesterday.
