UNREST AT BROKEN HILL. PROTEST ACAINS AL!EN ENEMY WORK IN THE MINES. [United Press Association.] (Received 9.46 a.m.) Sydney, May 19. There is considerable unrest and indignation at Broken Hill at the arrival of twenty-two Bulgarians under a military escort from the concentration camp Sydney, to work in the mines. A public meeting of protest demanded their immediate removal. TREATMENT OF BULGARIANS. (Received 9.45 a.m.) Melbourne, May 19. Mr Jensen announced that under a reciprocal arrangement with the Bulgarian Government, they have undertaken that they will not intern Bulgarians under seventeen' or over fiftyfive, nor will they intern Bulgarians of any age who are abje to provide for themselves. ] STRIKE AT WALSH ISLAND. (Received 10.0 a.m.) Sydney, May 19. Six hundred ironworkers struck at the Government engineering works at Walsh Island over the dismissal of five men for a breach of the regulations. CONSCRIPTION OF MEN AND MONEY. (Received 10.0 a.m.) Melbourne, May 19. The House of Representatives continued the debate on Conscription. Mr Watt, in advocating its adoption, said the most of the big war wonc would have to be done by October, aud if the Allies could not definitely win then they would lose.
