PERSONAL.
The directors of the Farmers' Coop. Organisation Society granted their general manager, Mr G. A. Holder, three months' leave of absence on account of ill-health. Mr Holder has been in very indifferent health recently, and will, under the doctor's advice, now take three months' complete rest and change.
Lieut. O'Dowd, of Kapu'ni, who is home on leave prior to departing for the front, was on Friday evening the' recipient of a case oT* pipes, presented at a largely-attended social in the Kapurn public hall. Mr J. D. Crowley made the 1 presentation. On the previous evening Lieutenant O'Dowd was also farewelled at a social gathering at his parents' residence.
The death is announced at Christchurch of Mr Augustus J. E. ScbWorks in Canterbury, father of Mr Worsk in Canterbury, father of Mr A. E. Schwartz., of Feilding. The deceased was born at Copenhagen. Denmark, in 1837, and educated at the Technical Institute. He arrived in New Zealand in 1867, and for many years was employed by the Public Works Department of the General'Government.
