FIRE
OUTBREAK AT TAIHAPE. Per Press association. Taihape, March (J. Yesterday morning, at 2.30 o'clock, a fire was discovered in Green's hairdresser's and tobacconist's shop. It quickly spread to Xicholl's picture theatre, and to the premises occupied by Bonnor, fruiterer, ■ Davies, solicitor, and A. M. Ryan's old offices, all Of which were totally destroyed. Butchart's baker and confectioner's shop was badly damaged, and .1. P. Aldridge's office and Gibb's motor garage was slightly damaged. All the buildings destroyed were owned by T. Elliott Wilson, his total insurance being only £4OO in the Government office. Nichols had £2OO on his picture' plant in the New Zealand Office, Green £loo.on his stock, Davies £2OO, and Bonnor was uninsured. The other insurances are not obtainable: Davies' strong room is still standing, and it is believed the documents arc safe. The picture theatre will be rebuilt immedi:atelyi Wilson's loss over insurances exceeds £IOOO.
