Walsh His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. AA r . Boon) on behalf of the citizens of Stratford, wished the men good bye. He said the men had a fine example sot thorn by the men who had left previously. and he was sure they would uphold it. Had it not been for the British Navy the war would not have been confined 'to one portion of the globe as it was at present. The blockade was doing its work effectively, inasmuch as Germany was feeling the economic conditions very acutely. Mr Boon said to the men. that probably there was no need to advise them to take care of themselves, hut as a precautionary measure he would do so. He told the men to take care of themselves in camp and elsewhere, and to leave drink alone. The men were given a hearty sendoff by the crowd present, and cheers rang from those on the platform as the train drew away from the station. WOUNDED SOLDIERS’ FUND. £ s. d.
