POLAR EXPEDITION.

StEFANSSON’S EPEDITION. United Pbess Association. London, November 1. Mr Stefansson lias cabled to the Daily Chronicle from Bankslaud saying that the North Star sailed on August 4, in command of Captain Milkins (a South Australian), her destination being Prince Patrick or Melville Island, via Cape Prince Alfred. The Polar Bear also sailed. Stefansson- is commanding the northern expedition, which will have r a hundred dogs, and the equipment is the best since that of the Karluk. He considers ho should finish the exploiation of the ice westward of the 145th meridian, and expects to return south in 1916.
