LONDON WOOL SALES. United Fees* Association, (Received' 1.40 p.m.) London. May 20. The wool sales closed strong, prices being the highest of the series. Merinos, good to medium and scon reels, were five per cent, above April best; greasy combing, par to five advance; on the average faulty sorts were at par. The crossbreds line was very firm at April rates, while-medium and coarser recovered from the early decline, and at the close were equal to April rates. Good slipes were unchanged ; wasty, at par to five per cent, lowers best scoured, par to five advance; faulty and burry, five to 71 per cent. Best lambs, firm and unchanged. Faulty merinos firm to 7\ per cent, decline. New Zealand “Christchurch,” top IS Ul, average 17-J-. “Bradford,” strong enquiry for all sorts. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd reports: London wool sales have closed. The mfirket as compared with that of 31st March was active. Merinos very firm, except for faulty, which is ten per cent, lower. Crossbred scoured and ■greasy unchanged. Market weaker for slipes.
