GREAT DAMAGE TO THE NARROWS FORTS. AUSTRALIANS OPPOSITE NACARA (Received 1.45 p.m.) London, May G. / The Daily Chronicle's correspondent before Gallipoli, writing on Sunday.. states: The most prominent feature since last message is the great damage to The Narrows' forts by the guns of the fleet and the artillery of the land forces. Ma.idos was still afire on Friday afternoon. The Queeu Elizabeth got destructive ■shots into Boghali Kalessi, opposite Xagara, until the place was afire. Ciianak was afire at midday on Saturday. It is evident the fleet has made considerable progress. The Australians and New Zealanders are pushing on towards the coast, opposite Xagara. The pitter-patter of the machine "guns can be clearly heard in the Aegean Sea. The battleships at the entrance of the Dardanelles, late on Saturday, shelled positions inland so as to facilitate the progress of the French at Kmti Kale. The report of the week's progress is amply satisfactory in every way,
