PROHIBITIVE BAIL.
ALUEQE.D. THEFT FROM BANK. Feb Press Association. Auckland, May 7. At, tlie. police court, Edward George Nurse, aged .31, was charged that lie did steal a diamond and other rings valued at £'soo. the property of the National Bank of New Zealand. On the. application for a remand; and for bail, the Crown Prosecutor said there was a great deal more at stake than the charge might indicate. The mattor involved several thousand pounds, but if the. defendant was prepared to help the./Crown in their investigations. ho Would not object; otherwise _he askpd.fnr the bail to be made prohibitive. The .Magistrate, after looking over the figure** submitted, said that what, the Crown Prosecutor stated was correct, ami. he fixed the bail in two sureties, of I'oOO each, accused to 10port himself twice every day.
