[ FROM OU!l OWN CORUKBPOMWNT.I A large number of spectators rolled ii]) at the Toko Tennis Court on Thursday, loth, to witness the match between ton ms representing the Tariki ami Toko Tennis Clubs. Unfortunatelv Tariki was unable to muster a lull team of ladies, owing to several players being laid aside by sickness. However, Tariki Club managed to muster two ladies and six men players. Excellent lunch and afternoon tea was provided by the lady members of the, Toko Club, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. After a verv strenuous and evenly fought out

match, the winning honors went to the Tariki team by seven games, the scoring being: Tariki 70 games, Toko (53 games. Although defeated, the Toko Club always recognise that in meeting the Tariki Club, they meet true sports in every sense of the word, also a team who always play the game in a sportsmanlike manner, always playing as if playing a friendly game instead of playing a match. The members of the Toko Club are looking forward with great pleasure to a trip to Tariki in the course of a week or so to play the return match. At the conclusion of the match, Mr J. Thorkleson, on behalf of the Tariki team, thanked the ladies for the excellent spread provided, and called on the Tariki team for throe cheers for the Toko ladies, Mr Were (President of the Club), and the players. Cheers for the Tariki team, called for by the President, ended one of the most enjoyable days yet spent on the court. The scores were as follows, in each case the Tariki players being mentioned first:— MEN’S SINGLES. J. Therkloson I, v. J. L. Luoena 7. T. Therkleson 7, v. H. C. Bennett 5. F. Mellroy 7, v. E. Hino 1.
