Rev. H. G. Rosher, vicar of All Saint’, Palmerston North, has. resigned on account of the ill-health in his family, and is returning to England in May.—P.A.
Weather Forecast.—The indications are for southerly, moderate to strong winds, hacking by south to west, then freshening for a storm which appears to be approaching from tile west after about 48 hours. Weather improving temporarily. Barometer falling after about 24 hours, but rising meanwhile. —Bates.
His Honor Mr Justice Hosking sat in the Supreme Court, Auckland., this morning, to consider the application to have the petition against Mr Vernon Reed’s election for Bay of Islands removed from the file on the ground that it was not lodged, within the legal time. His Honor stated" tha t this involved a point to be decided by the full court at Wellington on March 22nd. A motion to amend one clause in the petition was agreed to by consent.—P.A.
The required seven thousand £5 shares, to establish a Farmers’ Co-op. Freezing Works at Taihape with a capacity of 1000 sheep and sixty cattle per day have been subscribed. The total cost of everything is £42,000 ; The Bank of New Zealand is advancing £25,000. The works are to’ he in operation next season. Tenders so far accepted are: Electrical installation, J. Greenshields and Co., Christchurch, £2053; digester, J. Crabtree and Sons, Wellington, £2400; main building, Russel <and Bignell, Wanganui, £18,430; accommodation, house, Russell and Bignell, £000; ■engineers residence, Russell and Biguell, £567; yards, G.
