Auckland, March 1

James Cadman, aged 18, was drowned at Orakei bridge in the Waitemata Harbour yesterday afternoon. The water was shallow, and Cadman went out for a, distance of 100 yards.' He suddenly disappeared, and was not seen again. The body was recovered at midnight. A mark above the left eye, indicated that Cadman had dived and struck one of the stakes with which the vicinity abounds, thus being rendered unconscious. Invercargill, March 1.

Duncan Dundas, aged sixty, a bachelor, committed suicide by shooting himself through the head in the Riverton council .chambers / on Saturday night. The action is alleged to be due to ill-health. \ Carterton, March 1.

A young man named Henry Ernest Phillips, aged 24, was drowned in Whareoto Creek at Kahutara on Sunday. The deceased and a mate wore bathing, when the former suddenly sank. Several attempts were made to recover the body, but it was not found till the evening, when it was taken to Featherston.
