A NAUTICAL INQUIRY.

Per Press (Association. Auckland, January 30. Mr Fraser, S.M., gave judgment in the nautical inquiry into the collision between the steamer Wakatere and the scow Katie. The S.M. found that the collision was caused by Neil McArthur, the second mate of the Wakatere, misjudging the distance or the position of the scow, and committing a breach of the regulations as to preventing a collision at sea, and that he was misled by the loom of the high land. He ordered the mate to pay ten guineas, the costs of the investigation.
