NEW APPOINTMENTS. Per Press Association. Wellington, January 30. The Governor has approved the following appointments to the Samoan at. Relief Force:—Captain H. H. Wright (Army Service Corps), to be general officer; Captain Roache (sth Regiment), assistant quartermaster general ; Lieutenant Cotton (New Zealand Engineers), aide de camp and orderly officer to the Acting-Admitrstrator of Samoa. ENEMY SUBJECT ARRESTED IN WAIHI. ANTI-BRITISH SENTIMENTS. Waihi, February 1. Walter Mormeister, a German subject, who was arrested on Saturday, is aged 25. unmarried, and is well known in.Waihi. His anti-Brit-ish remarks led to his arrest. He boasted that :while the New Zea- _ rrr land “wasters” condemned the Germans, they were afraid to venture from _ their country to fight.
THE TROOPS IN EGYPT. Dunedin, February 1. The Hon. James Allen (Minister for Defence) informed a reporter that the New Zealand troops in Egypt were not engaged in the outpost engagements as cabled, but he is of opinion , that some of our troops have been 11 moved out of camp to share in the mg honors of duty at the front.
